The Climate Project Welcomes Indonesia as its Newest International Branch
08/03/09

The Climate Project is
pleased to announce the establishment of an official branch in
Indonesia. Formal recognition was given to the Indonesian
branch at TCP's Asia-Pacific Summit in Melbourne, Australia. As the
largest archipelago, or cluster of islands in the world by size,
Indonesia is one
of the most vulnerable countries to the impacts of climate change.
During the Asia Pacific Summit, former Vice President Al Gore trained
54 Indonesian
presenters from Java, Kalimanan, Sumatera, and Sulawesi. Since then,
presentations have been requested by corporations, non-profit
organizations,
community and conservation foundations, and regional and city
governments.
TCP's newest Indonesian presenters are featured in the photo. Under the guidance of Amanda Katili-Niode as manager, TCP-Indonesia
will operate independently as a non-profit organization with assistance
from the
Indonesian National Council on Climate Change. Katili-Niode, trained as
a presenter by Gore in April 2008, is the special assistant to the
Minister of
Environment. She is also the Coordinator of the Communication,
Information and Education Division at the Indonesian National Council
on Climate
Change.
