Five Teens to Become Presenters with The Climate Project

Young people who are ready to make a difference in the climate change movement have a unique opportunity this summer to learn from former Vice President and Nobel Laureate Al Gore. Inconvenient Youth will invite five teens to take part in The Climate Project’s upcoming Our Choice training to be held in Nashville, Tennessee June 26th-28th.

www.inconvenientyouth.org, between now and May 28th to complete an online application. Selected trainees will be personally taught by Vice President Gore to become Presenters for The Climate Project. Presenters will deliver a new slideshow to their local communities based on Mr. Gore’s latest book, Our Choice: A Plan to Solve the Climate Crisis.
“Inconvenient Youth offers a strong platform for youth to play a direct role in helping to solve the climate crisis. Young people have a unique source of moral authority on this issue because they are going to live with the consequences of what we do or fail to do,” said former Vice President Al Gore.
Launched on Earth Day of this year, Inconvenient Youth is the new teen initiative of The Climate Project, a program of the Alliance for Climate Protection. It is an online community where teens can post their ideas and actions to combat the harmful effects of climate change as well as meet and coordinate with other interested teens. Since the initiative began, the reaction from the teenage population has been enthusiastic.
“We’re excited to see the response from teens all over the world,” said Sam Davidson, Inconvenient Youth Manager. “It’s clear – both from the volume of applications and the number of interactions on our site – that teenagers care about this issue and want to act on it now.”
Inconvenient Youth began as an effort by Mary Doerr, a 16-year-old Presenter for The Climate Project, who wanted to connect her age group with the urgency of taking action on climate change. Mary’s work centered on adapting The Climate Project slideshow for a youth audience and touring the country to deliver a customized youth talk to students.
